High-Performance Real-Time Next.js & PostgreSQL Platform
A full-stack media and real-time messaging web platform built with Next.js, PostgreSQL, and Supabase—hydrating complex feeds in 1 query with strict Row-Level Security.
What needed to be solved
Media-heavy platforms often become slow and expensive to run as user activity grows. Traditional database setups make dozens of separate requests just to load a single home feed—fetching posts, user profiles, media galleries, likes, and saved states separately—leading to sluggish page loads and laggy messaging.
How we engineered the platform
We engineered Zeloria around a streamlined Next.js App Router frontend paired with a custom PostgreSQL database layer on Supabase. By consolidating feed assembly into a single optimized database function and pairing it with cursor-based pagination and live WebSocket channels, the platform loads complex media feeds in a single roundtrip while supporting instant messaging and database-enforced account privacy.

Single-Roundtrip Feed Engine
Replaced slow multi-query waterfalls with a unified PostgreSQL function that returns posts, profiles, media, and engagement states in one fast request.

Implemented public and private account permissions directly at the database security layer so sensitive content is protected by default.
